Ian Worden told us something of the history of these watercolour paintings by Joseph Hennah:

"Joseph Hennah, born 1896, and my grandmother Elizabeth Baiss, born 1898, were both brought up in Raglan Street, Pill, Newport. Joseph lived at no 6 whilst my grandmother resided at no 27. I am led to believe that they were friendly throughout this time and when my grandmother married William Davies in 1920 he gave them two water colour paintings as a wedding present."

We have displayed them as a pair as it seems right that they should be together.
