Ken Davies delivered fruit and vegetables and newspapers to Ponthir and Caerleon. His cart was a regular sight as far from his home in Ponthir as Ultra Pontem. Residents still remember how his horse, Vicky, knew the route he took and needed no guidance. She even came to a halt by herself when he jumped off the back of the cart to make deliveries.
He was a regular at the Ponthir House and had his own antique chair with a sign saying: "This chair may be used by anyone when Mr Davies is not in residence."
Sadly the 22 year old horse, Vicky, died in April 2000 and Ken died just two weeks later.
