A delightful postcard produced in 1984 by Penny Dale.
Gaslight, Furs and Victoriana, was a shop of unique character
on the corner of Backhall Street opposite the junction with Museum
Street. It was run by Val Burnell-Jones, now sadly no longer with
us. Dennis Burnell-Jones lent us the card to scan and Penny Dale,
the artist, gave permission for her picture to be reproduced here.
Another card was produced with a charming view of Harpers in the
Square all decked out for Christmas.
Penny still lives in Caerleon and is now one of this country's
leading illustrators of children's books. You can visit her website
