explained that the sculpture works on two levels. "The curves
represent the Celtic way of life before and after the Roman occupation.
Their art and even their homes were based on curves. The Romans,
however, thought straight and right angles... their roads,
buildings and even their town plans. It also represents life today
and how you live, your philosophy of life. At first my project was
to have a semi-circular end, but the wood was not thick enough.
So now I will leave the backs of the two pieces in their raw state.
The viewer will see that the two ways of living are parts of the
same tree." |
