I wonder if we will ever be able to identify any of the crowd in this old photo - or even what the occasion was. There's not much to go on, but you never know someone out there might have a similar photo that's been annotated. As can be seen on the reverse of the card, the photographers were C. Eastment and Sons of Caerleon. Now, we can't find Eastments in any of the Caerleon Censuses, but they are in Kelly's 1884 Directory of Caerleon:
Eastment Annie (Mrs.), dress maker, High street,
Eastment Chas. photographer, High st
Possibly they were in business in Caerleon only for some time between 1881 and 1891or maybe they lived outside the Caerleon area. |
