Lusiarii
Other preliminary
fights (in addition to Pugilatus,
boxing) derived from sport, hunting, local traditions, or even
exotic disciplines.
This is the case of the Lusiarii. Among the many weapons
they used (whips, hooks, etc.) were "double sticks",
with a soft protection on the left forearm.
It seems that this form of fighting came from Egypt, where there
is iconographic evidence of it dating as far back as 2000 BC.
