Provocatores

The Provocatores only fought with each other, in other words gladiators with the same equipment.
Their armour derived from the military world - a speciality of light infantry. The shield was smaller than the normal army shield. This enabled the Provocator to use it as a weapon striking the head and the body of the rival.
